Assessing Psychometric Properties of the Behavioral Emotion Regulation Questionnaire in an Iranian Population

Background: The Behavioral Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (BERQ) has been designed to assess the adaptive and maladaptive strategies for emotion regulation. Objectives: current investigation aimed study psychometric properties of BERQ in a sample Iranian students. Methods: To (2020 - 2021), 301 students (150 males 151 females) at Kermanshah University Medical Sciences (KUMS) were selected using convenience sampling. In addition BERQ, participants completed Cognitive (CERQ), Penn State Worry (PSWQ), Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS). Afterward, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, convergent divergent validity, confirmatory factor analysis calculated applied LISREL V 8.80 SPSS 20. Results: results supported five-factor structure (including seeking distraction, social support, actively approaching, withdrawal, ignoring) student (RMSEA = 0.08, comparative fit index (CFI) 0.90, normed (NFI) 0.90). Furthermore, positive subscales significantly positively correlated with cognitive regulation CERQ. They also had significant negative correlation depression, anxiety, stress, worry. Moreover, withdrawal ignoring worry, CERQ (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Persian version suitable properties. This questionnaire could be utilized assessing healthy unhealthy reactions individuals.
